The Heartbeat
Darren and I went to our first ultrasound on November 5th. I had no clue what I was going to see, if anything. Although the baby was only a tiny spec, their it was…the heartbeat. It was so cool to see that and confirmed everything for me! So we left with our first pictures of the baby. What a miracle!
Later that night we went to Thursday dinner and told my parents the news, they were so excited. When we got home that night we called Darren’s parents, and they were just as excited, they went from waiting for grandkids to having two in 2010! From there we started telling everyone including Grandma and Grandpa Englert and all our siblings, the word spreads fast!

Pumpkin Carving and Halloween
I went to my friend Jenny’s pumpkin carving party, which was fun. Jenny is pregnant with a boy and due in April, my friend Megan was also there with her son and m
y godson Noah. Megan is also pregnant with a boy and due in February. So it was hard not to tell the ladies I was pregnant because it is so great we are all pregnant at the same time! Darren keeps joking that there are three pregnant East Valley ladies on the loose...watchout!
For Halloween Darren and I handed out candy to all the neighbors then went to Megan and Bryans house to hang out.

My First Doctors Visit
I went to the doctor on October 29th and confirmed with another pregnancy test that I was in fact pregnant. The doctor sat with me and went over everything I might be feeling. Including nausea, bloating, cramping, and TIRED. Yes, I am still experiencing all of the wonderful 1st trimester symptoms. We also went over food and an overview of what is to come. I will be delivering at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa.

I’m Pregnant
I took a pregnancy test on October 20th. Of course I questioned the pregnancy test, not really sure if I took it right (it was my first time, give me a break). So I took Darren off guard while he was downstairs having a snack and said “I need you to confirm something”…I THINK I am pregnant. Trying not to get to excited I made him look at the test and confirm it was true. Darren didn’t stop smiling for the rest of the night, I still don’t think he has! We are very excited.

A Little RnR
Lets back track a little… Darren and I took a trip back to Massachusetts to see family and go to a friends wedding. We were there from October 8th-19th so technically the baby already went on a vacation, we just didn’t know he/she was along for the trip!
It was very nice to see friends and family. We went to York, Maine for a few days in-between and enjoyed some lobsta and crab cakes and had a beautiful and relaxing stay at the Dockside Guest Quarters. The trip also included a Boston Duck Tour, tea with the ladies at the Boston Harbor hotel and ended with a baby shower for Russ and Lauren McCollem (who are having a baby boy on January 11th!) What a fun time!

Keeping Track

After being inspired by a friends blog (thanks Jenny), I decided I should start one to track my pregnancy and keep people updated on what’s happening with the McCollem's. Darren and I are so excited about the new addition to the family and want to share these moments with everyone. We hope you enjoy the updates!
Love,
Siobhan and Darren
