Letter to Brice

Brice,
You are such a handsome boy. You are very serious, but very friendly and goofy when you want to be. You are a loud talker, but what should I expect your dad and I are too. You are talking so much now and you say the cutest things. You never sit still unless you are doing a puzzle, which you love! You make friends easily where ever you go. You and Walker are best buds and he takes a lot from you, like horse rides, or tackling or lifting his paws to "dance". You still love to dance with me and love music. You idealize your daddy and thinks he hung the moon. You follow him around gardening, mowing the lawn and getting your tools out to fix things. You are really into your tow mater and lightning cars and are always asking us to "hook um' up". I love snuggling in bed with you at night to read books and you love it when we write on your back. You can have a really good tantrum from time to time and ask to be put in time out, but most of the time you are a happy little boy and your smile melts my heart.  I love you!

Letter to Nathan

Nathan,
You are such a happy easy going baby, You smile all the time and it is so easy to make you laugh. You will not take a bottle still (unless it is practically forced) and you love to eat. For now it is just rice cereal twice a day. Daddy says you are spoiled because you don't even know what formula is. You love to sit in the corner of the couch with a bag of toys in front of you and play. I am not sure what i am going to do once your mobile! You are so interested in everything Brice does and loves it when he comes and talks to you. You still like to nap in the swing (although you look huge in it and it is tilting to the right) and in mama and daddy's bed. At night we are still all over the board but I think partially that is because you have a bad cough and it wakes you up. But you go down by 10 if not earlier and sleep til 5 in your crib. You have a case of the 5 o'clock fussys and just want to be held. You still love taking baths and especially love to eat your feet. You have the biggest blue eyes. I swear you say Mama when I am not giving you enough attention and it melts me. You like to have white noise or lullaby's playing when you go to sleep and we have given up on the pacifier and i don't think you will be a thumb sucker. I love watching you grow and learn and love hearing you chat. You are a sweet, sweet boy. I love you!

The toy bomb

Just wanted to let the world know that the toy bomb fairy came and I no longer live in an adult home, but a toy store. Although we do have a playroom, the toys seem to creep out little by little. Nathans bouncer, swing and play mat have taken over the living room and puzzles are now done in the computer room. Even the master bedroom is where the boys bathe! So for now I will just try not to trip and enjoy being able to blame the kids for the mess :)

Anniversary

November 10th, 2012, Darren and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. We did not get to celebrate big, since we had a newborn, but I still got beautiful roses, and Darren made his delicious waffles for breakfast. Darren is the greatest husband and my perect match.

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Grandma Ruth's Visit

Rewind... Lets go back to when Grandma Ruth came out to help me with the boys once Nathan arrived. She came two weeks after he was born and was only supposed to stay 3-weeks, but we lucked out with a 4th because of a hurricane in MA :) She was a big help, especially with Brice, very attentive to him and making sure he got attention while i was feeding the baby, which to a 2 year old seems like forever and all the time (and it kind of is). She also baked lots of cookies for everyone which I loved and got to get in her baby snuggle time. I swear the only person he would chest snuggle was Grandma Ruth (lucky!) We actually did a lot and got out of the house, which was a far cry from when Brice was a newborn. The weather was gorgeous so it was a little easier to do. We went to Vertuccio Farms with the boys and Nathan slept the entire time. Brice got to go on Bouncers and train rides and got to pick out his pumpkin. We also went to the zoo, Nathan again slept most the time and I carried him in my front pack which he loves (that's the only way I get chest snuggles). We did lots of park time, pretty much anything to get energy out of Brice. Brice carved his pumpkin, but did not really like the gooey stuff inside, so I had to assist. We also got to tricker treat with Her and the Hulihees. Brice was Woody from Toy Story and Owen and Noah were Star Wars characters. Nathan was just in a cute My First Halloween onsie. We kept up with Friday night dinners to see the whole family and even got in some quick trips to Ross, Target and the grocery store.
We were sad as always to see her go, especially when Brice would wake up every morning and say "Grandma Ruth?" So the morning she was gone was sad to say the least.

A big thank you to Grandma Ruth for coming out and helping us find our new normal.

Brice-isms

Brice is 2 1/2 years old and is a chatter box and most days I love it! He is not asking a thousand questions which I think will be the next step, but he repeats things over and over until we repeat it back. I think he is just looking for validation that he is saying things correctly. Here are some of the things he is saying most of them make me laugh. I am loving the twos.

In the car when he wants me to change the channel in a very drawn out voice focusing on pronouncing the words
"I... don't... like... this... song"

Anytime we see construction. We have a book titled this...
"Mom! goodnight goodnight construction site"

Good ol' potty training
"I pee-peeing" and "I get orange lollipop"

"No wa-ker" or "sit wa-ker" or "I give one to wa-ker" (a cracker he is eating) or if he doesn't feel like sharing "I put wa-ker outside"

He never says Yes and just mimics what you say if he wants something, so Darren has been making him say yes which comes out as "yesh"

He likes to talk to Darren on his drive home and always ends it with
"Drive Safe" (this just tells me he is listening to everything!)

He loves his cousin "Ri-U-ley"

"Here you go nA-than"

"More oran juice"

He knows his ABC I am pretty sure LMNO in Brices words he says Elmo

He knows all his basic colors and recognizes every letter!

And my favorite
"I love YOU mom"

My Life with Boys

I have so much to post and I am way behind. I have measurements and quotes and all sorts of good stuff lined up to talk about and every night while I lay in bed another cute thought or saying pops in my head and I think I should write that down so I don't forget, but next thing you know I am snoozing.
So for now I am just going to write about how blessed I am and how unbelievably lucky I feel to have such great guys in my life all the way down to the dog (who has been extremely naughty lately, but he is still a good boy!) We have all adjusted well to the baby in the house, Brice is a great big brother and I have to say really seems to like Nathan always asking where he is, giving him toys to play with and talking with him. He is finally quite now when I say "shhh baby's sleeping" it took a lot of shh quites, but he gets it now. We are starting to groove into a routine, starting being the keyword. Still pushing the naps in the afternoon to be at the same time. Slowly things are meshing. I am pretty sure I am the one being trained, but I like to think i am in charge. ;) I love being home with Brice and Nathan, they both say or do cool things everyday and am so grateful that i can be there to witness it all. Darren also seems to know when i need a break or help, weather it is doing the dishes, getting my car washed for me, or taking Brice to the park he really is a great husband and dad.

Right now the house is full of sleeping baby's, so I might just be on a quite high and in a place of relaxation, but my family rocks :)
